A MIDSUMMER’S evening of music and wine is offered by Armonico Consort at Warwick’s Lord Leycester Hospital in an intimate concert on June 20.
The strains of music from the Baroque and Renaissance will fill the air as singers and players from the consort’s singers perform Intimate Evenings with Armonico, featuring instrumental works and choral music by Handel, Bach and Purcell and Monteverdi.
The evening will also provide a chance to meet and chat to the singers and musicians in the Lord Leycester Hospital’s historic courtyard over a glass of wine before the concert.
Artistic director Christopher Monks said: “ Most of our performances now are in large concert halls, and these opportunities to perform in close proximity to the audience takes us right back to where we started 17 years ago.
“Most importantly, and what the audience don’t realise, the energy the musicians get from the listener in this format is so intense, it inspires us to perform to far higher levels of our ability, making it even more enjoyable than usual!”
