AN ARMY of superheroes have flown into Stratford for Heart of England Mencap’s annual awards.
Staff and volunteers celebrated their outstanding achievements in categories including carer of the year and going the extra mile.
People who use the service were also handed awards during the ceremony at Stratford School.
They received recognition for increasing independence, securing new jobs and even developing their cooking skills.
Head of operations Hayley Hemmings said: “It was a really special evening of celebration and fun.
“Our staff and volunteers are real life superheroes to us –it is so important to thank them for their hard work and dedication. Without them we would not be able to make the difference we make.
“Our vision is to create a community where difference is embraced, independence is encouraged and every individual is valued for who they are, and we could never achieve that without our wonderful team.”
