POLISH links with Shakespeare and Stratford were marked at an event in the town on Saturday (April 28).
The Shakespeare Birthplace Trust, in collaboration with the Polish Cultural Institute, hosted a celebration of acclaimed Polish poet Jan Kochanowski – a near contemporary of William Shakespeare
The ‘Celebrating Kochanowski’ evening, at The Shakespeare Centre, explored the work of the founding father of the Polish literary tradition and Shakespeare, drawing comparisons between the two.
A varied collection of archive material from the trust illustrated Polish contributions to literature and drama, as well as longstanding and more recent Polish connections with Stratford and south Warwickshire.
The evening, attended by Polish Ambassador Arkady Rzegocki, also featured Polish music by Alternative Strings and folk dancing by the Wiesniacy dancers.
