A LORRY driver will appear at Warwick Crown Court next month charged with causing the death of young Stratford mum Rachael Martin by careless driving.

Fifty year-old David Mark Farr, from Stoke-on-Trent, was behind the wheel of a car transporter, which was reversing while making a delivery in Western Road on the morning of May 20, when it was involved in a collision with 29 year-old Rachael who was walking her two daughters to the nearby Willows Primary School.

It was reported at the time that Rachael, who lived in Elm Road, died saving the life of her five year-old daughter Keira who had fallen off her scooter. Keira was airlifted to hospital having suffered suffered serious pelvic injuries, and has since undergone treatment to aid her recovery.

Mr Farr appeared before magistrates in Leamington this week and it was indicated he would be pleading not guilty to the charge.

He was ordered to appear at Warwick Crown Court on November 4, and was granted unconditional bail.
