A ‘SHELL-SHOCKED’ lottery winner from Lower Quinton experienced a taste of the high-life as he celebrated his £1million winnings.
Carpenter Aaron Fawden – who won the cash in the EuroMillions UK Millionaire Maker draw – popped the champagne outside Ettington Park Hotel as Only Fools and Horses star Sir David Jason flew overhead in his private helicopter after a meal at the luxury hotel in Stratford.
Despite the glamorous celebrations, the 47-year-old – whose first purchase was a round for everyone at his local pub – said he is still planning on continuing his job as a carpenter.
But Aaron says despite the knowledge he is now ‘financially sound’ the news still had not quite sunk in.
He said: “I couldn’t quite believe it, I was shell shocked, I thought it was a dream.
“I have been celebrating a lot, it’s been a long week but it’s still sinking in.”
He added he was making himself a flask of tea for work as he remembered to check his ticket.
The dad-of-two had to wait for an hour and a half to confirm the amount from National Lottery operators Camelot, after post office staff told him it was a ‘big win’.
Aaron still went to work even after the win was confirmed to finish off a project.
He said: “I’d just been told I was a millionaire and the day was just bit of a daze. I didn’t finish the job but the customer was fine about things, it isn’t every day you win a million pounds.”
The keen golfer revealed he had already bought himself an Audi SQ 5, and was looking forward to buying a new house and taking his children to Orlando.
