Making Stratford more dementia-friendly

Stratford Editorial 25th Feb, 2020   0

MAKING Stratford more dementia-friendly is the aim of an awareness event on Monday (March 2).

Stratford District Council (SDC), together with the town council and Warwickshire County Council, will host the event at Stratford Town Hall from 10.30am to 1.30pm.

There will be a range of organisations present who support people living with dementia and their carers as well as sessions around unlocking memories and managing changes in behaviour.

Everyone Active, who operate the council’s leisure centres across the district, is supporting the event and will be available to talk about its dementia friendly services and offer free health checks.

There is no need to book and people can drop in at any time but anyone interested in attending one of the information sessions should take note of the session times:

* Unlocking memories session at 11am and 1pm

* Become a Dementia Friend 11.30am – 12.30pm

* Managing behaviours session at 12.45pm

Anyone interested in becoming a dementia friend can also attend a session at 11.30am.

There will be free refreshments and music performed by musicians from Orchestra of the Swan.

Call Marie Darwen at SDC on 01789 260108 for further information.
