THE ROADS of south Warwickshire have claimed another life after a man died following a three vehicle crash on the Stratford to Shipston road.

Two cars and a lorry were involved in a smash on the A3400 Shipston Road shortly after 2pm on Tuesday afternoon (December 1).

The victim has not yet been named but he is understood to have been in his 30s. He was driving alone in a Citreon estate.

The 82 year-old driver of a Xsara Picasso, also involved in the crash, was freed from his car by firefighters before being taken to Warwick Hospital by ambulance suffering from neck and chest pains. He was later discharged.

The 31 year-old lorry driver was checked over by medics at the scene but did not need further treatment.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “Crews found two cars and a lorry which had been involved in a significant collision. The driver of one car, a man, was sadly confirmed dead on scene.

The death on the district’s roads follows just a couple of weeks after a motorcyclist was killed in a crash involving a coach on the Warwick Road near Stratford Manor Hotel.

Another motorcyclist escaped with only minor injuries the following day, when thrown 30 feet from his bike after being involved in a crash with a car on the same stretch of road just a few hundred yards away at the Wyevale Garden Centre junction.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the crash on Shipston road, which was closed overnight while investigations took place. Anyone who can help should call 101, quoting incident number 178 of Tuesday December 1.
