FILM fans have the chance to watch four much-loved movies on an outdoor big screen in South Warwickshire.

Movies by Moonlight returns to Compton Verney Art Gallery this September with screenings of An American Werewolf in London, The Greatest Showman, Encanto and West Side Story.

Families are being invited to bring a blanket and a picnic and make an evening of it.

An American Werewolf, John Landis’ horror-comedy classic, is being shown on Thursday September 22.

The Greatest Showman, based on the real-life adventures of the world-famous showman P.T. Barnum is set to entertain on Friday September 23.

Disney’s Encanto takes to the screen on Saturday September 24 and West Side Story, featuring warring gangs the Sharks and the Jets, will close the film event on Sunday September 25.

Three of the films – The Greatest Showman, Encanto and West Side Story – will also include subtitles that are accessible for deaf and hard of hearing.

And a selection of food will be available at each screening all thanks to street food company Digbeth Dining Club, as well as a range of snacks and drinks.

Abigail Viner, Head of Exhibitions at Compton Verney, said: “Whether you’re in the mood for a feel-good musical or love a bit of mildly gross gore, these movies offer something for every kind of film fan. While they were made for cinemas, I think the giant outdoor screen and the unique surroundings of the park and the nearby lake will create an atmosphere that is suited to each film in a way that no multiplex or indoor setting can achieve.

“Movies by Moonlight is the perfect way to experience each film, perhaps for the first time. If you love film, then these screenings are definitely not to be missed.”
