STRATFORD MP Nadhim Zahawi has praised Alcester manufacturing firm Smith Brothers and Webb after announcing it was looking to launch a new apprenticeship scheme.
In a visit to the firm, Mr Zahawi – former apprenticeship advisor to ex Prime Minster David Cameron – also heard the company is considering recruiting more engineers to join its installation, repair and maintenance teams.
The expansion comes as the company – which produce automated washing machines for vehicles under the Britannia brand – enjoys a growing order book in the UK from bus from bus and commercial fleet operators, as well as buoyant sales abroad.
Mr Zhawi said: “The opportunities that Smith Brothers & Webb have to offer school leavers in the local area are really impressive.
“It’s great to see innovative businesses offering valuable apprenticeship programmes like this in my constituency, and I look forward to young people seizing this chance to pursue a rewarding career in engineering.”
