Nadhim Zahawi tests positive for Covid

STRATFORD MP Nadhim Zahawi was forced to miss Parliamentary Questions yesterday after testing positive for Covid.

In a tweet, the former vaccines minister confirmed he had three jabs and would be working from home in isolation.

It read: “Yesterday I tested positive for Covid and will therefore be watching my brilliant colleagues at oral questions today instead.

“Thankfully I’ve had my three jabs and will be working from home while I isolate.”

The Education secretary also missed initial findings from senior civil servant Sue Gray’s report into the alleged Downing Street gatherings during lockdown.

It found failures of leadership and judgement and confirmed The Metropolitan Police are investigating 12 out of 16 events identified in the report.

Mr Zahawi has faced criticism for defending Mr Johnson after he said during an interview the Prime Minister was ‘human’ and ‘made mistakes’.

Following the report announcement, Mr Johnson apologised and insisted he understood the public’s anger.
