One actor and his dog at RSC in Stratford on Avon

A STAR of the RSC’s latest production in Stratford is used to taking the lead.

While the old show business chestnut cautions never to work with children or animals, actor Roger Morlidge has no choice in the RSC’s new production of The Two Gentlemen of Verona – Shakespeare’s only play to feature a dog.

Roger, who plays the character of servant Launce, will be hoping lurcher Mossup, who plays his dog Crab, will be on her best behaviour.

He should not have any problems as Mossup is a seasoned professional with a string of stage and screen appearances to her name.

Mossup has recently appeared on stage in Glasgow in Legally Blonde, made many television appearances including Casualty, The Tudors and Topsy and Tim, big screen outings in films Mr Turner and The Invisible Woman, and appeared in various advertising campaigns and television commercials.

The Two Gentleman of Verona can be seen at the RST until September 4. Visit www.rsc.org.uk for tickets and further details.
