Orchestra of the Swan perform for Stratford Hospital appeal

Stratford Editorial 4th Aug, 2014 Updated: 28th Oct, 2016   0

HOPEFULLY it won’t be their swansong as Orchestra of the Swan take to the stage in aid of Stratford Hospital.

The Stratford-based group is set to perform a special concert at Stratford ArtsHouse on Friday September 19 to help support the £1 million fund-raising appeal.

If granted planning permission, the £20 million proposals – reported by The Observer in May last year – will see a cancer and an eye ward built at the site of the existing hospital on Arden Street.

The new eye ward will be made up of an outpatient suite with examination, treatment and injection rooms while the new cancer ward – modelled on Warwick Hospital’s Aylesford Unit – is set to include 12 treatment chairs.

It is hoped the new facilities will reduce travel time for those in South Warwickshire while the extra £1million will provide features that do not come as standard.

David Curtis, artistic director said: “Orchestra of the Swan is part of the fabric of the community and works with many groups, schools and care homes.

“All our players are committed to enhancing the quality of life in our town and we are delighted to support this hospital fund-raising appeal.”
