PALLIATIVE care service Shipston Home Nursing is branching out and will start caring for patients earlier in their illness.
The nurses will be based at Shipston Medical Centre as part of a trial until November.
It will see them offer support at an earlier stage of end-of-life care and expect early referrals to the service to mainly affect those suffering from non-cancerous illnesses such as Parkinson’s disease.
Home nurses will make an assessment before a care plan is developed for each patient.
Support will then be stepped up as the illness progresses.
