POLICE are urgently trying to trace a woman who called to say her young daughter had gone missing in Stratford.

The phone call was received around 2pm on Thursday from a woman stating her four year-old son had gone missing near to a playground in the town.

But before details of the caller could be taken, the call cut out and police have received no further calls about the incident.

Officers in the town have conducted searches and spoken to people in the area but have not been able to locate either the caller or the child.

Other enquiries are also being pursued to locate the caller and CCTV in the area is also being reviewed.

Police are appealing to the woman to call 101 quoting incident number 175 of Thursday August 11, and confirm if the child has been found safe and well.
