POLICE are investigating after a teenager is believed to have been shot in the leg in Stratford.

Officers were called by medics at around 4am on Monday to Brookside Road – off the Alcester Road – after the 17-year-old was found injured.

The victim was taken to hospital. His injury is not believed to be life threatening.

Three men are thought to have fled the area sometime between 3.30am and 4am.

Police have cordoned off the area as investigations are carried out.

Det Ins Tim Sharp said: “I understand the local community will be extremely concerned by this and we are working tirelessly to work through evidence, we have increased our patrols to reassure the local community and anyone with any concerns is asked to approach officers.”

This is the third gun-related incident reported in Warwickshire, in less than a week.

Any witnesses or anyone with information should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously onĀ  0800 555 111.
