TAX credits and terrorism sparked debate with politics students when a Lord paid a visit.

When Lord Geoffrey Dear spoke to sixth formers studying government and politics at Stratford Girls’ Grammar he was keen to hear their opinions on current topics of interest.

The school invited Lord Dear to talk to the students as a part of their Sixth Form Speaker Programme.

The former Chief Constable of West Midlands Police gave a talk about the role and the history of the House of Lords and explained why it was such an important institution.

Politics teacher Dom Giles said: “We were thrilled that Lord Dear was able to find time to visit us at school.

“He was insightful and inspiring and the girls were enthralled.”
