Pop-up ping-pong gets players into the swing

Stratford Editorial 4th Nov, 2018   0

TABLE tennis players have swung into action at a new club in Stratford.

‘Pop-up’ ping pong sessions were held in the town throughout summer, and were such a success organisers wanted to make them permanent.

And with the help of Stratford Town Trust the JLM Table Tennis Academy the club will now run every Friday. The sessions will be held at Foundation House between 4.30pm and 9pm.

To celebrate an open evening was held, with club members and players enjoying a match on the new tables.

A club spokesman said: “Throughout summer our sessions became incredibly successful with more than 1,000 people playing over six weeks.

“People said if there was a facility in the town they would use it so the task was to find a venue and equipment to provide it.

“Thank you to everyone who helped make this happen. It is a great starting point but I’m sure there are bigger and better things to come.”

A two hour session costs £2.50. Visit www.tabletennis365.com/JLM for more information.
