THE NHS Trust which runs services in Warwickshire and Coventry is in the running for four awards recognising outstanding contributions to healthcare.

University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire (UHCW) NHS Trust has been shortlisted in four categories at this year’s Health Service Journal (HSJ) Awards.

For the second year running, the Trust has beaten off stiff competition to be shortlisted for Trust of the Year in celebration of its recovery performance, continued innovation and transformation, and focus on addressing health inequalities.

The Trust has also been nominated for awards in Acute Sector Innovation for improving access and reducing waiting times for patients with eye emergencies; Place Based Partnership for delivering a person-centred service for musculoskeletal physiotherapy and specialist care patients; and Reducing Health Inequalities for developing a new app to consider clinical prioritisation of elective care.

The Trust was nominated among 1,067 entries for the HSJ Awards 2022.

Chief Executive Officer Professor Andy Hardy said: “This really is wonderful news.

“The fact we’ve been shortlisted for four categories in the HSJ Awards 2022 is testament to the dedication and expertise shown by our staff and hard-working teams, who go above and beyond to improve patient outcomes and quality of service and care.”

HSJ Editor Alastair McLellan said: “On behalf of all my colleagues, it gives me great pleasure to congratulate UHCW on being shortlisted as a finalist. All of the applications represent the ‘very best of the NHS’ and often leave our esteemed panel of judges with an impossible choice.

“We’re all very much looking forward to welcoming our finalists to the awards ceremony in November, celebrating their impressive achievements and jointly acknowledging our values of sharing best practice, improving patient outcomes and continuously driving for better service.

“But we never forget that the award ceremony is not just a celebration within a night, but a platform to recognise the hard work of all our NHS staff, all year round.”

The selected winners will be announced during the awards ceremony at the Battersea Evolution Centre, London, on Thursday November 17.
