Residents vote in favour of 'neighbourhood plans'

Stratford Editorial 19th Oct, 2018   0

RESIDENTS have voted a resounding yes to neighbourhood plans in Shipston, Wellesbourne and Walton, and also in Ettington and Fulready.

They voted on whether they wanted Stratford District Council to use the plans to help decide planning applications in the area.

In Shipston, a quarter of townspeople eligible to vote went to the polls, and nearly nine out of ten voted yes.

In Wellesbourne and Walton, a third of villagers turned out, and 93.3 per cent said yes.

And in Ettington and Fulready 95.5 per cent of voters were in favour of the plans among the turnout of 35 per cent.

Neighbourhood plans are a key component of the government’s Localism Act, which aims to devolve greater powers to councils and communities
