RSC operating bag checks as threat level remains at critical

Maisie Jeynes 26th May, 2017 Updated: 26th May, 2017

THE RSC will be operating bag checks and adopting a ‘small bags only’ policy in light of the UK’s current threat level.

Bags will be searched at both the Royal Shakespeare Theatre and Swan Theatre, and any large bags and rucksacks will need to be left in the cloakroom.

Executive director,┬áCatherine Mallyon said: “We constantly review and update our approaches and procedures to ensure that everyone is as safe and secure as possible. We regularly train and prepare for major incidents, with the full support of the counter-terrorism police and emergency services.

“We will continue to be vigilant, as we know every one of us plays a role in keeping people safe from harm, and will continue to offer our warmest welcome to visitors, and to ensure that everyone is as safe and secure as possible.”
