Safeline goes digital thanks to software developers

A CHARITY supporting sexual abuse victims will be able help even more people after going digital.

Warwick-based Safeline has been given a helping hand by software developers at Cooper Solutions, based in Barford.

Developers volunteered to spend their weekend setting up a new computer system for the charity, which will enable them to spend less time on administrative tasks.

Safeline chief executive Neil Henderson said the system would enable them to support even more people through counselling, advice, prevention projects and their national helpline.

Mr Henderson told the Observer: “This project is crucial in helping to transform the way the charity works. Currently, we have a manual data capture and reporting system. There are gaps in the data we need and reporting is cumbersome and labour intensive.

“This project will generate detailed, real time information that will enable us to manage all aspects of the charity in a really efficient and effective way; the benefits generated will enable us to protect and support even more people affected by abuse.”

Staff at Cooper Solutions said rather than donate to the charity, they chose to offer their time and talents to make Safeline’s job easier.

Manager Ben Felt said: “I think it’s significant that software professionals in our area are contributing their time and talents to tackle social issues that affect our community. Donations are always important but sometimes it’s just a matter of figuring out how to put your talents to use.”
