THE SHAKESPEARE Birthplace Trust has scooped a top employment award.

The trust has been awarded the Warwickshire County Council Employability Charter for its commitment to supporting young people to succeed in the workplace.

Supported by a £39,700 grant from the council’s Skills for Employment programme, the initiative aims to address skills shortages and gaps in the accommodation and food service sectors in Stratford district.

Council leader Izzi Seccombe said: “We are delighted to award the Warwickshire Employability Charter to the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust for its commitment to work with Stratford College, Henley High School and Q Hotels.

“The project will not only provide youngsters with valuable hands on experience, but also increase their confidence and awareness of the world of work – vital in helping them enter employment in the future.”
