Shakespeare Lions appoint new president

SHAKESPEARE Lions has appointed Charles Williams as their new president and Stratford mayor Tony Jackson took an early opportunity to meet up and discuss shared values and challenges.

Charles said: “My assertion is that, in the aftermath of the pandemic, there will be unprecedented demands for our club to serve and support those individuals, families, youth organisations, and charities in need – both in our local and global community.

“In order to step up to this challenge together we will focus our club’s drive and energy very firmly on fellowship, fulfilment and fun.”

“My goals are to re-knit, re-engage and re-ignite Shakespeare Lions Club as we gradually emerge from this pandemic. The path back to any sense of normality in our lives stretches before us but its length will vary for each individual club member.”

Coun Jackson added: “As the world’s largest volunteer organisation the ethos of the Lions in serving the community fits very strongly with my chosen good cause of volunteers.

“Charles’ appointment comes at a difficult time for all and it was interesting to discuss the challenges of living in a virtual world and the importance of keeping members engaged and involved.”
