SPRING flowers, fruit and vegetables were in abundance at the Wellesbourne and Walton Horticultural Society’s seasonal show.

There were over 160 entries from 40 growers on display for judges Brian Cook, Edwina Basson, Anne Hepworth and Jill Collins to cast an eye over.

Tracey Caines won the Challenge Cup for most prize money for her cut flowers and Elizabeth Hamilton and Carol Evered’s floral art entries earned them the Oldham Cup and certificate of merit respectively.

Anne Goodland and Kate Skinner tied for the Granville Cup, the Tug O’War cup went to Sheila Parr for her trumpet daffodils, Jenny Wood’s garden in a seed tray earned her the people’s choice award and Joe England won the photography competition with his winter wildlife snaps.

And Amal Agabani won the Ken Wheeler Trophy for most prize money in the children’s classes.

The society’s next event will be their plant sale outside the Methodist Church on Bridge Street Saturday May at 10am.

The autumn show will be held on Saturday September 2.
