Stratford charity benefits from wheely good fund-raising efforts

Stratford Editorial 22nd Jun, 2019   0

A ZIP wire and plenty of cuppas were among the fund-raising efforts of women in Stratford to help provide support for young people.

Members of Inner Wheel raised £1,000 for Lifespace which provides mentoring to children and young people facing stress, family and social difficulties.

Inner Wheel president Rita Booth kicked off the fund-raising with a three-generation ride down Velocity – the fastest zip wire in the world at speeds of over 120mph – with daughter Debbie and granddaughter Gina.

Members also held a coffee morning and hosted fashion shows.

Rita said: “Stratford Inner Wheel has been raising money for local and international charities for over 72 years. We are a friendship club and get together socially for a variety of activities but are also keen to put our skills to good use to support community organisations.

“Lifespace is a very special charity with the assistance it provides for young people and we are delighted to have raised enough money this year to sponsor two mentors.”
