Stratford College continues to welcome Euro youngsters post Brexit

WHILE Brexit has been dominating headlines, Stratford College has been welcoming youngsters from continental Europe keen to immerse themselves in all things British.

Students aged 12 to 16 from France, Spain and Italy have been attending Summer Schools at the college during the past month, to help improve their English skills and their knowledge of the nation’s culture, including a rather well-known former town resident.

The students have been enjoying various team-building and sporting activities, as well as day trips to theme parks and cities throughout the UK.

And closer to home all things Shakespearean played a large part in their busy schedule, which included visits to the Royal Shakespeare Theatre and a river cruise.

College principal and CEO Nicola Mannock said: “This is a wonderful opportunity for young people from other countries to experience our rich heritage.

“They have an interesting, varied timetable, mixing English lessons with sporting and cultural activities. We want our visitors to return home not only with improved English language skills, but also with an insight into our culture and everyday life.”
