Stratford couple look forward to slimmer future

Catherine Thompson 5th Oct, 2017 Updated: 6th Oct, 2017

A COUPLE are looking forward to a slimmer future.

Jane and Garry Sarchet from Stratford lost over seven and a half stone through the Everyone Active’s GP referral scheme.

Garry weighed in at nearly 17-stone and suffered from asthma, often causing him to feel out of breath and lethargic. The 61 year-old was advised by a doctor he was at risk of heart problems if he did not take action.

And following her husband’s example, 50-year old Jane, who weighed more than 14 and-a-half stone, also decided to make changes.

The couple who previously enjoyed regular takeaways and sweet treats, turned to the help of Everyone Active which manage Stratford Leisure Centre to help them on their journey.

The couple joined Slimming World alongside a 12-week programme with Everyone Active, designed to meet their needs.

And the couple began cooking healthy, homemade meals together, contributing to their lifestyle changes, resulting in a seven and a half stone weight loss between them.

Garry, who has lost over four stone, said: “When I started the programme, I was apprehensive that I wouldn’t be able to stick to the exercise regime and the lose weight I needed to. 12 weeks into the plan, I felt more alert and now, my asthma has improved so much, that I no longer rely on my inhaler.

“I would recommend anyone who is looking to improve their health and wellbeing to visit their doctor to find out more about the scheme, it really has changed my life.”

Everyone Active manager Nick Stowey said: “I have worked in the leisure industry for more than a decade, and stories like Garry and Jane’s are truly inspiring and remind me why the work we carry out here at Stratford Leisure Centre is so important.”
