TWO charities have benefited to the tune of more than £1,000.

Stratford District Council Chairman, Mike Gittus hosted a charity dinner to raise money for his two chosen charities, Stratford Hospital’s £1million appeal and Alcester Dementia Café.

He was joined by his consort, Di Gittus and a host of civic dignitaries including The High Sheriff of Warwickshire, The Lord Mayor of Coventry and the Chairman of Warwickshire County Council.

Guests enjoyed performances from Coun Gittus’ mother Ann and his stepdaughter Ali Driver as well as this year’s winner of Alcester Musician of the Year, 13-year-old violinist Amy Moynihan.

The event at Alcester Memorial Town Hall raised a total of £1,200 and the proceeds will be split between the two charities.

Coun Gittus said: “The evening was a great success and I would like to thank all those that contributed towards making it so special.

“The surroundings of the ancient town hall contributed towards the atmosphere of the event, and clearly those that supported the evening showed their appreciation by their generosity to my charities”
