LAW firms in Stratford will be writing wills to raise money for The Myton Hospices.
Lodders Solicitors are among a host of firms taking part in the charity’s Make a Will Week from October 6 to 10.
The Arden Street firm has signed up to produce basic wills in return for a donation to the charity, which provides specialist end-of-life care for Coventry and Warwickshire residents.
Last year 150 wills were written raising more than £15,500 for the charity and it is hoped this year’s event – the fifth of its kind – will top that with 23 firms from across Coventry and Warwickshire – including fellow Stratford firm, Shakespeares – involved.
Laura Abbott from Lodders said: “The Myton Hospices is an excellent charity and we are keen to do what we can to support it. “Anyone who has used their services will appreciate what a worthy cause they are and that donations of any kind are monies well spent.
“We hope the initiative will also encourage more people to make wills as we see far too often the problems that arise without one.”
And organiser Hannah Morris added: “Making a will is something many people put off and don’t like to think about but it is the only way to ensure our wishes are met after we are gone.”
Supporters of The Myton Hospices may also consider leaving a gift to the charity in their will, which will be used to help pay for the care of its patients.
The charity has three hospices in Warwick, Coventry and Rugby and needs to raise £8 million a year to keep its services running.
The suggested donation for a single will is £80 and £160 for a joint will.
