Stratford Town Square to be renamed Bell Court

Stratford Editorial 1st Jul, 2015 Updated: 28th Oct, 2016   0

BELL Court will be the new name for Stratford Town Square when a £30million revamp is complete.

The current run down square in the heart of town was to be named Bell Yard but there was a change of heart following the recent public exhibition.

In addition to using the historical name for the scheme, developers UK & European Investments is planning on re-installing the 14th century bell that hung in Bell Court. Originally cast in 1320, the bell is believed to have hung in the Stratford market where it sounded the start of trading to the town.

If permission is granted, the anchor tenant for the development will be a four screen Everyman cinema.

Subject to securing planning permission, building work will start later this year and, when complete, the proposed Bell Court will feature a range of shops and restaurants.
