THE FIRST ever touring stage production of The Goon Show will premier in Stratford.
The comedy radio series which launched the careers of Spike Milligan, Peter Sellers and Harry Secombe will take to the stage at the Bear Pitt Theatre from February 8 to 10.
The Goon Show re-wrote the rules of British comedy during the 1950s, attracting radio audiences of around seven million and paving the way for Monty Python, Eddie Izzard, Steve Coogan and The Mighty Boosh – and they can still be heard on BBC radio today, 60 years later.
Shows start at 7.30pm on all three days with a 2.30pm matinee on Thursday.
