UNFESTIVE thieves have left elves seeking help to fix Santa’s sleigh in time for his annual rounds of the district.
Alcester and Stratford District Round Table organises an annual Santa sleigh run for some 40 years to raise money for local causes.
But members were dismayed to find the generator, used to power music and light on the sleigh, had been stolen days before it was due to set off.
They are hoping to raise money to buy a new one which will cost around £1,000.
Member Paul Jackson said: “We’re hoping to get one this weekend but it’s not an ideal time. It’s not an expense we were prepared for. We’re looking at £1,000 for a decent one but the more expensive it is, the less we can put back into the local community.
“We want to be able to keep spreading Christmas cheer but without the lights and music it would be very poor.”
Thanks to donations from the community, which gathers to enjoy the festive spectacle, the two-week event raises around £6,000 every year.

The Santa runs start this year in Bidford on Saturday December 7 and will make its way around the district until December 20.
