Town prepares for Bard's birthday bash

THE SHAKESPEARE Birthplace Trust is preparing for another big birthday celebration.

To mark Shakespeare’s 454th birthday, the trust will be staging a mix of entertainment, performance and family fun in Stratford.

On Saturday April 21 Henley Street will come alive with free events, including Victorian circus skills and percussion music workshops, balloon sculpting, traditional morris and renaissance dancing, and country dancing by pupils from The Willows Primary School.

And Stratford CV37 residents (with proof of address) can enjoy free entry to all five Shakespeare family homes and a slice of birthday cake, while stocks last.




Other events happening during Shakespeare’s Birthday celebrations include The Shakespeare Birthday Lecture which will see actress Jane Lapotaire about her career and what Shakespeare means to her in conversation with trust head of research Dr Paul Edmondson,

It takes place at The Shakespeare Centre in Henley Street on April 20, starting at 4pm.Tickets, priced £10 (SBT Friends £9), are available online at www.shakespeare.org.uk or from the Shakespeare homes.


And a Knights & Nymphs Children’s Garden Party takes place at Hall’s Croft on April 21 from noon to 4pm. Free entry for CV37 residents.
