Trinity Players help raise funds for St Peter's Chapel restoration

YELLOW stockings and cross garters helped raise much-needed funds for Holy Trinity Church.

The Trinity Players – the church’s own players – staged a production of Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night just yards from the author’s resting place in Holy Trinity.

Malvolio slipped into his distinctive comic costume and joined the rest of the cast to raise £1,000 towards the restoration of the church’s St Peter’s Chapel.

Director Ursula Russell is now preparing for the group’s next production to be performed at Holy Trinity in early November.

Shakeshafte, penned by former Archbishop of Canterbury Dr Rowan Williams speculates on an imagined meeting between the young William – prior to a playwriting career – and Edmund Campion, a Catholic Jesuit priest who was later to suffer a martyr’s fate during the religion-focused upheaval and violence of that era.
