AN HISTORIC school bell swung back into action after a television presenter was invited to ring it.
ITV’s Love Your Garden presenter David Domoney was asked by Stratford Primary School to take part in a campaign to keep the seldom rung 18th century bell tolling.
The school, which celebrates its 135th birthday this year, is inviting celebrities to do the honours – documenting each bell-ringing event on a photo wall.
The first celebrity to make the cut was David Bradley who starred in Harry Potter and more recently, Game of Thrones.
And the green-fingered presenter was delighted to be next in line.
He said: “I’m thrilled to have been asked to ring Stratford Primary School’s bell, it’s certainly not something I’ve done before.
“Both my Mother and my colleague Alan Titchmarsh are bell ringers so I had better get it right.”
David – who runs the Cultivation Street campaign which encourages school and community gardening – also provided tips on maintaining the school garden.
Geranium seeds schoolchildren had already received from the campaign, were in full bloom for the television gardener to see.
