Vandalised district council parking machines set for repair

Stratford Editorial 6th Nov, 2015 Updated: 28th Oct, 2016   0

VANDALISED parking machines in Stratford are set to be repaired.

Back in July vandals struck at the Recreation Ground car park – damaging seven of the ten pay and display parking machines during the attack.

Stratford District Council, which is responsible for maintaining the machines, has since been encouraging motorists to use its RingGo cashless system.

The mobile phone service allows motorists to pay for parking by credit or debit card, rather than with cash at a pay machine,

and is available at all district-council operated car parks in the town except for Bridgeway multi-storey and surface pay on foot car parks.

Councillors this week approved plans to use £40,000 given by housing developers to repair and upgrade some of the damaged machines.

A report will also be drawn up to look into the cost of implementing paying by credit or debit card at all council parking machines ahead of a meeting on November 30.
