Villagers vote in favour of neighbourhood plans

Stratford Editorial 28th Feb, 2018   0

VILLAGERS in Wootton Wawen and also in Wilmcote and Pathlow have voted in favour of neighbourhood plans.

They are a key component of the Government’s Localism Act, which aims to devolve greater powers to councils and communities, and will help determine future planning decisions in the respective communities.

In Wootton Wawen 482 voted in favour of the plan, and 55 against. Turnout was just under 50 per cent.

In Wilmcote and Pathlow 351 voted in favour, and 23 against. Turnout was 39 per cent.

Stratford District Council leader Chris Saint said: “Neighbourhood Plans reflect the desire of local communities to influence their development. I welcome the opportunities being provided to local villages to influence development in their parishes.”
