Volunteers brush up their skills for charity

Stratford Editorial 3rd May, 2018   0

VOLUNTEERS brushed up their skills when they helped a charity brighten up a residential home in Stratford.

National Grid staff from Warwick lent a hand to Heart of England Mencap – which supports people with learning disabilities – to re-decorate the living room of one its residences.

Fund-raising manager Cath Errington said all the charity’s money was spent on care and essential maintenance so help from volunteers was always appreciated.

She added: “We support many of our customers to live independently in the local area. This enables them to live with friends, but ensures that they are safe and that their care needs are met.

“Having a team of volunteers enables us to get a job done, and spruce up a room where they spend a lot of time together.

“The customers picked their own colour scheme and National Grid also provided funding for the paint and some soft furnishings.”
