Warwick man cycles to Stratford on a penny farthing for charity

A FESTIVE dad from Warwick was riding high for charity.

Stuart Kettell cycled 25 miles from Warwick to Stratford on a penny farthing wearing a Christmas jumper.

The 51 year-old took to the saddle in aid of Text Santa which is supporting Macmillan Cancer Support, Make-A-Wish UK and Save the Children this year.

The videographer is a dedicated supporter of Macmillan Cancer Support. The father of two got involved with Macmillan after a school friend died from cancer and has raised over almost £50,000 for the charity in the past decade.

The festive philanthropist needed a stepladder to get on to the six-foot-high penny farthing which was on loan from a local museum and was decorated with twinkling fairy lights and tinsel for the journey.

Stuart said: ““I’m not one to do things by halves though so I knew I’d have to do a crazy challenge and riding through town on a festive penny farthing is one way to do that! I hope to inspire other people to take part in Text Santa Christmas Jumper Day and raise vital funds for families in difficulty at Christmas.”

He also carried a fund-raising bucket for people to donate during the six hour ride.

The Text Santa Jumper Day takes place on Friday December 18. Visit itv.com/textsanta to sign up.
