FIREFIGHTERS in Warwickshire have scooped a national award.
Fire Magazine named the Warwickshire Fire and Rescue’s dedicated retained applicants support project (DRASP) team their Team of the Year at the Excellence in Fire and Emergency Awards.
The team played a critical role in developing a programme to recruit more retained firefighters and were nominated for going above and beyond to to ensure potential recruits had the best support possible to make it through the rigorous training process.
Warwickshire’s chief fire officer Andy Hickmott said: ”Well done to all involved, we are very proud of the hard work and commitment the DRASP team have shown to the communities of Warwickshire, by recruiting retained staff to those hard to reach areas.
“This enables more of our rural fire stations to remain available for emergency calls for longer periods, keeping our local communities safer and making Warwickshire one of the safest places to live and work.”
