Wellesbourne allotment owners team up with Monty Don

GREEN-FINGERED Wellesbourne allotment owners have teamed up with expert Monty Don to help budding gardeners.

Ian and Jo Hope and Simon Oram – who are plot holders at Wellesbourne Allotments – were recently filmed to appear on BBC’s Big Dreams, Small Spaces, where Monty advises amateur gardeners on how to make improvements.

The trio welcomed Ross from Bristol to their allotment. He is set to be the star of one of the show’s upcoming episodes, receiving advice from other gardeners and working on his allotment under the watchful eye of the tv star.

They explained how they build their own shed and offered advice on growing plants.

Recently they travelled to Ross’ home for the ‘big reveal’ – to see how Ross had used their advice and changed his allotment for the better.

Ian said: “It was great to see the inspiration that Ross had taken from his visit to Wellesbourne and all credit to him for his hard work.

“Monty had clearly been a support to Ross in his endeavours and gave me some great tips for composting, which I am enthusiastic about.”

The show is set to air early next year on BBC Two.
