WARWICKSHIRE MPs are preparing to return to Westminster with their colleagues following yesterday’s terror attacks.
Stratford MP Nadhim Zahawi was in Parliament at the time of the attack shortly after 2.30pm, which left five dead, including the attacker, and some 40 injured.
Mr Zahawi tweeted ‘Thoughts and prayers with the victims. All my staff are safe. We are all in lock down in the Chamber.’
Kenilworth and Southam MP Jeremy Wright’s office confirmed he was safe.
MPs will return to Parliament as normal today (Thursday) but flags are at half mast and the streets around Westminster are quieter than normal.
Police have arrested seven people. Six addresses were raided in London, Birmingham and elsewhere in the country on last night.
The car used by the terrorist was reportedly hired in nearby Solihull.
The grey Hyundai i40 ploughed through people after it mounted the pavement before slammed into the black railings outside Westminster Palace. It is believed the attacker started his journey in Birmingham
Hagley Road in Solihull was cordoned off on Wednesday night and a flat was raided by police.
* PUPILS from Balsall Common Primary School – who were on a visit to Parliament when the terrorist atrocities unfolded – are safe and well.
When The Observer contacted the school earlier, they were unable to comment.
BBC Radio Five Live reported just before 6pm that some schoolchildren, who had been inside Westminster were being led to safety. It was not confirmed whether or not the Balsall Common Primary pupils were those being discussed.
