Youngsters can experience wartime Warwickshire

Stratford Editorial 29th Jul, 2017   0

YOUNGSTERS are being offered the chance to experience life during wartime in Warwickshire.

A selection of letters home, advertisements, articles and papers will give pupils the chance to understand the life of Warwickshire people during the First World War.

Free to download from the archives of Heritage and Culture Warwickshire, the resources include extracts from the letters sent home by siblings ‘Rollo’ and ‘Dotty’ Fielding, which recount their respective experiences as a Lt-Colonel and ambulance driver on the front line.

Pupils can also read about life back on home front – everything from rationing to life for returning soldiers.

Stories and characters have also been brought to life by performers Kieron Attwood and Hannah Graham in a series of short films.

Visit heritage.warwickshire.gov.uk for further details.

* THE ROYAL Regiment of Fusiliers Museum in Warwick has been given a cash boost.

The Somme Lest We Forget concert of remembrance at Bedworth Civic Hall raised £1,770 which was donated to the museum at St John’s House.
