Another Henley win for Stratford Boat Club

THERE was more Henley success for Stratford Boat Club rowers when they returned to the venue at the weekend to compete in the Henley Town & Visitors’ regatta.

Races were run over 800m of the famous Henley Royal Regatta course, much of which was also used for the 1908 and 1948 Olympic Games and also saw the first Oxford versus Cambridge University Boat Race.

“Although the course is much shorter than the Henley Royal Regatta course, the race was still closely fought,” said Oliver Smith, Stratford’s Captain of Boats.

“It was pleasing to beat Cygnet Rowing Club and to win the Henley Town Trophy as the highest level winning four of the day. Stratford won comfortably by two-and-a-half lengths.”

Stratford’s junior squad were also out in force and Maddy Winsper and Amy Neville won their WJ142x category.
