STRATFORD showjumper Carron Nicol – riding her own ten-year-old bay stallion Mr Visto – took the National Ladies Championship title in style as she continued her fine form at the British Showjumping National Championships.
There were 26 competitors in contention for the title, ensuring the class delivered exciting competition, and Nicol and Mr Visto took the title with an impressive double clear and a time of 39.02 seconds.
Nicol gave a great demonstration of skill and technique to win the class in such a competitive field to continue her prolific success at this year’s British Showjumping National Championships and Stoneleigh Horse Show, which is taking place at the National Agricultural and Exhibition Centre in Stoneleigh for the very first time.
“I’ve had an unbelievable championships so far, having won the National 4-Year-Old Championship Prelim 1 (with Fantaland) and the National 1.30m Open Championship (with Moonraker).
“He (Mr Visto) won The Oxford Area Trial recently at Addington Manor, but I’m lucky he has lots of energy for the rest of the championships.”
Second place was claimed by Julie Andrews from Preston, aboard Eva Bjorkman’s Ayrton IV, who challenged the winning combination with an exciting jump-off.
Andrews was the only other rider in the class to jump a double clear and kept the pressure on the competition until the final moments of the class.
