Charity donation marks change of presidency

A GENEROUS donation was made to a worthy cause when Di Medhurst of Stoke BC stepped down as president of the Warwickshire Women’s Bowling Association and handed the reins to Chris Ward of Lillington.

Di presented a cheque for a massive £2,992.22 to Felicity Stratton and guide dog Ivy who were pleased to represent the Guide Dogs for the Blind Association.

By raising such a figure, Di was also able to name a dog and Tammy will be one of the new puppies.

Di said: “I would like everyone to know how proud I am of our ladies and their achievements in the Middle England League and the Johns Trophy, as well as the considerable achievements of our younger players and those who represented us in the Nationals.”

She finished by thanking everyone for a fabulous year and for their support, with particular thanks to Stoke Bowling Club.

Chris Cooke (Southam) was welcomed as junior vice-president to join Joy Cooke (Blossomfield) as senior vice-president and the rest of the Executive team.

Chris Ward said: “Di has done a very good job and I have certainly got a hard act to follow, but I will do my best. I wish you all good health and happy bowling.

“My charity is Myton at Home, chosen because of the care and kindness a very close friend of mine received during his illness, enabling him to be at home with his wife and family.”
