AFTER 15 races in the West Midlands Cyclo-cross League, Stratford Cycling Club’s youngsters have come up trumps.

There can be no doubt the inspired performances of Spencer Corder in winning the under 12 title proved an inspiration to the rest of the club’s youngsters.

Although there were no local winners in the other seven categories, the club’s youngsters ran up some amazing near misses.

There were 18 teams competing for the honours and the Stratford youngsters’ results were as follows: U6 – Reuben Child 6th; U8 – Ruben Stringfellow 6th, Finlay Child 12th, Xanthe Phillips 30th, Tamsin Moss 4th in the girls’ section; U10 – Jake Deaner 9th, Callum Moss 13th, Sam Abbott 24th, Jake Gray 26th, Reuben Phillips 29th; U12s – Spencer Corder 1st, Lewis Tinsley 4th, Alex Burden 6th, Joshua Darlow 11th, Ellis Brown 26th, Joseph Gregg 27th, Harriet Tinsley 4th in the girls’ section.

In the other categories David Hird finished a creditable fifth in the under 16s category, followed by Connor Murphy who was 21st.

In the under 14s competition Tom Charles was 16th and Baden Green 26th. In the seniors, Ian Tinsley was eighth in the 45-plus category, Carl Max Taylor ninth in the 50-plus category and Nigel Jones a brilliant fifth in the over 55 section.

In the early season circuit races at Stourport, Jess O’Riley finished 12th in the ladies’ event, whilst David Hird was 17th in the under 16 race and Ben Snodgrass 18th.
