STRATFORD Cycling Club members gathered at the Grosvenor Hotel in Stratford for their annual dinner and awards night last Friday when they celebrated the racing successes of club members over the past season.

They were joined by guest of honour and life member Geoff Cooke, the 31-time World Masters champion, who spoke of his experiences as an Olympian and Olympic coach, as well as taking questions from the floor.

Of particular note was Keir Lewis’ performance in retaining the Hill Climb Championship whilst still only in his first year as a junior.

There was lots to savour as numerous accolades were dished out, including Alison Bagnall for Women’s BAR and John Chesney as Most Improved Youth Rider.

James Fidoe won the Time Trial Handicap, Warrick Fuller was Most Improved Senior Rider and David Hird won the Robert Heenan Award.

Chris Huxley was named Clubman of the Year, whilst Tom Lane took three awards in the shape of Junior Time Trial, Roadmans Time Trial and Road Race Championship.

Keir Lewis won the Hill Climb trophy and Mick Stallard scooped a hat-trick of honours for Time Trial Scratch, Time Trial Veterans Standard and Men’s BAR.
