Duo impress in Duston Sprint Tri

STRATFORD Triathlon Club duo James Purdy and Richard Eden impressed at the Duston Sprint Tri held at Duston School in Northamptonshire.

Up against strong competition, Purdy finished 35th overall and Eden 248th and second in the 65-69 age group out of 301 finishers.

Purdy maintained his good form as a strong swim was followed by fast transition on to the hilly bike leg, before transition two into the run.

He battled on through a slight cramp and finished strongly in 1hr:05mins, just ten minutes behind the winner.

Eden also enjoyed a great event as a steady swim was followed by a good transition to bike.

He found the hills challenging but still managed an average speed of 15.8mph before transition two and the final three-mile run to finish in 1hr:32mins, which was good enough for a podium finish for second place in his age group.

Report compiled by Richard Eden.
