FA Cup woe for Town

Stratford Editorial 3rd Sep, 2014 Updated: 28th Oct, 2016   0

STRATFORD Town once again exited the FA Cup at the first time of asking as East Midland Counties League side Blaby & Whetstone Athletic won Saturday’s preliminary round tie 1-0.

Aaron Preston netted the only goal of the game in the 50th minute and visitors Town were unable to find a way through the Blaby defence from then on.

Meanwhile, Town’s Birmingham Senior Cup tie against Wolves has been arranged for Tuesday, October 14 and this has meant the Red Insure League Cup match against Evesham United originally scheduled for that date has been brought forward to Tuesday, September 30.

Both matches are at the DCS with a 7.45pm kick-off.

Because both clubs were knocked out of the FA Cup at the weekend, Town’s Southern League Division One South & West match away to North Leigh scheduled for Wednesday, October 29 has been brought forward to Saturday, September 13 with a 3pm kick-off.

On Saturday eighth placed Stratford, who have ten points from six matches, visit leaders AFC Totton before a home match against Wantage Town follows on Tuesday (7.45pm).
